Tanjay Association, USA On behalf of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) I must express our deep concern at the organisation of horsefights in certain parts of the Philippines. Activities which deliberately encourage animal suffering and are organised for entertainment and commercial gain should be outlawed in any humane, civilised Society. They cannot be dressed up and sold to tourists as a cultural show. They are acts of callous cruelty to animals which will be recognised as such by visitors to your country and bring shame to the whole Philippine nation.
We appeal to you to make these organized horse fights illegal.

The Editors seriously believe this
letter needs a formal official answer. We therefore endorse the matter
over to all concerned Tanjayanons thru Officers of the Tanjay Association,
USA for whatever action they think is necessary.
To our dear Tanjayanons in America: I am writing to express our heartfelt gratitude for your most important help in our sound system project and in our town's religious activities in honor of our Patron, Sr. Santiago. We really needed the sound system, especially myself: potot man gud ko (sa Iningles pa "cute") unya gamay pud ko'g tingog (natawo man gud ko'g ting-init - Abril). But now with the new sound system, our churchgoers can hear me. Pero na-a na pu'y laing problema: lugos sila makakita nako kay tupong ra man intawon ko sa ambo. Apan unsaon ta man. Kining tanan pagbo-ut sa atong Guinoo. Wala na ta'y mahimo niana. Anyway, again, to all Tajayanons: THANK YOU gyud kaayo. Please come and visit me next time you come home - but till then, may you always walk in God's grace.
Fr. Fred Duran
Ambi, kamo diha sa Amerika, mga bright man kaha mo, ni-ay trivia questions guikan namong mga Tanjayanon nga nia ra sa Pilipinas. Sulaye ug maka-answer ba mo: 1. Unsa may atong makita nga dili
makita sa Dios ( or sa Iningles pa, what can we see that God cannot see)?
Dodong is among the up and coming leaders of Tanjay. Having been to other parts of the world, particularly the Middle East, he brings with him the wealth of experience, guts and sincerity which assets, sadly enough, are lacking in some of our leaders back home. (Sadly enough also, he did not send us the answers to his trivias.) The Tanjayanons in America and Canada all pray for and wish our dear Bobby S. Anfone a speedy recovery. Get well soon and we'll see you one of these days. The name of Mrs. Encarnacion C.
