Braddock's Composition

With Paraluman on the piano, the singing began with Braddock's special piece, which we re-print in full, as follows (maayo ni harong ma-puno-puno ang atong pages!): Pag-Shopping, Mga Asawa (to the tune of Kasadya Ning Takna-a)

Sho - - pping mga asawa!
Ibilin ang mga bana
Bahala na'g wala'y kwarta
Credit Card lang ang gamita

Maglipay, maghudyaka ta
Hikalimti ang problema
S'lamat sa Kahitas-an
Ug sa mga tindera nga pa-utang ra.

(Refrain)
Bag-ong tu-ig bag-ong kinabuhi
Wa na'y bagot-bot, wa na'y saput-saput
Ang mga asawa atong pasyapingon
Harong mag-malipayon.....

Wala pa gani ma-human ag pag-kanta sa Christmas carols, Presidenta Badingding announced, "Hoy, ma- alakansi ta sa atong gi-bayad sa DJ ug dili ta mag-sugod ug bayle!" As if we needed a second reminder!!?

The Mother of All Dancing

The lights were turned off, the multi- colored lights went on, and the DJ started with, what else, cha-cha-cha! Kirig jud tanan - pero 99% mga babaye (Pare Braddock, time to compose a song about "mga bana nga maga-bantay ra sa ilang mga asawa nga siging bayle"). Bobbob Flores and Joaquin Villegas were the "dance instructors" for the night....

Christmas tree

Christmas tree in Tanjay at 150 feet high. Do you know of any other  taller than this?

bag-ong gi-operahan sa ti-il....Tia Ringgy Teves, former first lady of Tanjay, and our permanent Chairperson of our Association's Executive Committee, was good at the rumba....si Melo na-pi-ang kay na-patiran sa high- heels ning Mariane....si Emily Teves ug si Fern wala'y hunong ug bungis- ngis....si Braddock wala maka-bayle kay sige rang ga-shooting with the videocamera, pero si Alice kirig gihapon....si Quirining had a "special smile" kay du-ol na mo-abut ag iyang bana....and Douglas Lopez introduced some very fancy dance steps, thanks kono to Johnnie Walker itom. Pag-pa-uli sa DJ around 1:00 sa buntag, Danny Gil put on some more music - bayle gihapon hangtud sa 2:00 sa kadlawon!

Until next year na pud....

THE MEDICAL MISSION....

The Philippine Medical Society of Southern California will go on their summer medical mission to the Philippines in May 1996, and will visit five places. Good news - with our representations, Tanjay is included in their itinerary! There are 10 members in the team, five of whom are surgeons. They will bring their own drugs and medicines. Ang ilang operahan kadtong mga indigents nga may goiter, mga bungi, and other ailments.

Braddock contacted Tanjay Mayor Arturo Regalado, who is very excited about the visit and has expressed his
wholehearted support. Wala kono'y problema with housing; siya kono ang bahala, kay Tanjay will have two hotels (!) by then (see next story).

There is kono a new hospital scheduled to open in Ilaud, pero if that is not ready by the time of the Medical Mission, Mayor Regalado will arrange to have the operations carried out at the Provincial Hospital.

Mayor Regalado suggested that we expand this Mission to include a BALIK-TANJAY project - harong na-ay maka-tabang ug oversee the Medical Mission, especially sa pag-distribute sa mga tambal. Mas importante, this will provide an opportunity for Tanjay Association, USA members to participate in the project to collect USED CLOTHING AND BOOKS to donate to our less fortunate townmates. How about it?

Let us know if you would be interested in going to Tanjay in May, pohon, as part of this Medical Mission/Balik-Tanjay project. We can help look around for cheap airfares (kadtong may special offer of "three pieces of baggage").

Better still, if you have any used clothing and books to donate, please send them to our Association address at: 19002 Horst Ave., Artesia, CA 90701. Thank you very much in advance!

NEWS FROM TANJAY....

Aida Calumpang sent us the following news: everything kono is "go" for the new hotel in Tanjay. The Gaisano group from Cebu won the bidding, and the hotel (wala pa'y ngalan!) is scheduled to open in late January. The other hotel (a five-star kono!) is planned for Kandanki, Asagra, where there are already 12 cottages.
